Day 5 : Patterdale to Shap
The walk from Patterdale was a long one and was a walk of two halves. It started from the lovely, unspoilt lakeland village then led up into the fells for one last time. Up to Boredale Hause (360m) then onward to the lovely, peaceful Angle Tarn (500m). A long pull up to close to the summit of The Knott (750m) then a final, somewhat sad summit of Kidsty Pike (780m). The last summit to be reached before descending into 'normal' life again. A rather long drag along Haweswater Reservoir and Lakeland was but a fading memory. Woodland, damp fields, somewhat threatening cows, lambing sheep and Shap Abbey (ruined). Then over a kilometre drag through the very dull Shap which has nothing to commend it, at all. A sad and rather long day leaving a hanging feeling hanging that the party finished but somehow I'm still here.
